Personality:
Heather is seen to have a tough demeanor since she has a short fuse and is a pretty courageous person. When the going gets tough, she can be incredibly serious; although she doesn't always think things through, making her a bit brash in thought depending. But some of that's just basic teenage girl stuff. She's actually a very logical and smart girl and can get out of sticky situations and make good observations. She won't shy away from fighting back, speaking up, and letting people knows how she's feeling. For the most part, she's a pretty independent woman at only seventeen years old. But deep on the inside she actually is kinda feminine and fun to be around (if she considers you a friend). Her feminine side including that she tends to like stuffed toys and enjoys shopping, etc. She's been taught to not talk to strangers, so trust may be a hard thing to obtain from this woman (if you look plenty suspicious or dangerous, that is). Her maturity also makes her rather disciplined, since it was proven that she used to smoke; but quit on a high note. Not afraid of hearing cold hard truths either and can accept it really quickly.
Background/Story:
Heather's real name is actually "Cheryl"...but she’s also a girl named Alessa (or at least until the end of Silent Hill 3). She is the daughter of the protagonist from the first Silent Hill game, Harry Mason. Soooo in order to totally explain Heather's story, we gotta go back to the events of the first game.
Silent Hill starts with Harry Mason who is taking his daughter, Cheryl, to Silent Hill for vacation. Harry and his wife found Cheryl and adopted her as one of their own. A few years later, Harry’s wife dies so he has been raising her since. They get in a car accident when Harry tried to avoid a figure in the road. When Harry wakes up from being knocked out, Cheryl is gone. Of course, like the good daddy he is, he goes out to find her. Only to find out that Silent Hill is fucked up. Not only is it deserted, snows out of season, and has a crap load of fog; but when a siren goes off MONSTERS SHOW UP. And the scenery turns to blood and rust. Awesome. This is called the “Otherworld” state. He meet up with a blonde cop named Cybil Bennet, and she helps Harry by giving him guns ^^b. After solving some of the famous Silent Hill riddles and kicking monsters’ asses, Harry meets up with a fruity woman named Dahlia Gillespie at a church. She gives him an item called Flauros and tries to scare him with morbid warnings of the future. Yeah right, like Harry would listen to that. She tells him to go to the hospital, Alchemilla. He meets a doctor named Micheal Kaufmann and later a nurse named Lisa Garland, who’s really scared out of her wits. Now Harry wants some answers about this screwed up town. Dahlia shows up again telling him to not complete signals or Silent Hill will be COMPLETELY screwed over, as if being more screwed over was possible. Cybil comes back telling him she saw a girl over by the lake, a young child. Harry then disappears from her sight…weird. Harry then is able to talk to Lisa again, telling him where the lake was but saying she can’t leave with him. Harry meets with Kaufmann again…IF YOU PICKED THE GOOD ENDING CHOICE, you help him out in the resort area. But then the town becomes more screwed up…ironically. Yeah, didn’t Dahlia warn us about this? Harry meets up with Cybil again and they agree to stop the mark completion Dahlia warned them about. So Harry goes to the lighthouse and Cybil goes to the amusement park. Cybil is attacked by some mystery attacker and become possessed. Harry finished his business in the lighthouse and after seeing more sighting of the girl, he then goes to the park. IF YOU PICKED THE GOOD ENDING CHOICE, Harry saves Cybil. Harry sees the girl again and uses the Flauros to catch her. Dahlia shows up and reveals her evil plans…that backstabbing bitch used Harry to get the girl, since he’s the only one who could get near her. The girl ends up being Alessa, Dahlia’s daughter. Yeah, Dahlia sacrificed her a few years back. Some mother. She was trying to bring about a “God” by sacrificing her; and Alessa even had weird powers and was considered a “witch” in her school. The cult Dahlia was in supports this God and tried to release it out of Alessa. Alessa’s powers go out of control and Harry goes to some demented form of the hospital called “Nowhere”. Lisa shows up again and realizes she’s dead and transforms into some deformed thing right in front of Harry and runs away…okay. Harry then reads her diary (naughty) and figures out that Lisa tended to Alessa. After a freaky trip in the Nowhere, Harry sees a flashback with Dahlia, Cybil, and Kaufmann. Also, a person in a wheelchair and Cheryl and Alessa. Dahlia explains the sacrificing Alessa bit and then says that Alessa’s soul split in two and gave birth to Cheryl. And Cheryl was then found by Harry and his wife shortly outside the town after that happened. Then Alessa tried to send the marks all over town as she sensed that Cheryl was nearby (which gave her more power) so Harry could stop the God from being released. But that didn’t work now since Cheryl is back…so she turns into the God and kills Dahlia. Harry then kills the God. Victoryyyy! Now if you did all of those good things earlier, you get the best ending! Before Alessa departs (or dies…), she gives Harry (and Cybil) a new baby…a new Cheryl…or I guess we should say that it’s Heather. They escape but Kaufmann gets attacked by Lisa. Poor bugger.
Noooooow we go to Silent Hill 3!
Game starts out with Heather in a shopping mall 17 years later. She wakes up from a nightmare and goes to call her dad, Harry. After the phone call she gets talked to by an old fart detective named Douglas. Heather is not pleased and thinks he’s invading her space and privacy; like a stalker. Douglas says someone wants to talk to her and it’s about her birth. Okay…and Heather wants nothing with that. She escapes him by going to the ladies room, the perfect plan. She escapes through the window and things get wonky. She encounters a monster and then hell breaks loose. After some hell, she meets up with a strange cloaked woman named Claudia. After saying some weird shit about “paradise” and Heather being involved, she leaves. Confused and determined, she follows her and enters and elevator…and the old Silent Hill Otherworld goodness comes back. After leaving that mess and leaving the mall, Heather meets with Doug again and she is confused about what just happened. She believe Doug is behind it and starts questioning him; but he doesn’t know jack either. He said that he was just doing what Claudia told him to, which was to just find her. Both confused still about what the hell happened, Heather leaves to go home through the subway hoping to leave the mess behind (yeah right). Soon, she meets up with a guy named Vincent, who claims to be on Heather’s side in the deformed Hilton center. Of course, because of his weird attitude (in a happy kinda crazy way…not psycho…just weird) and him knowing Claudia…Heather doesn’t really think so. After some more fucked up things…she returns to her apartment. Only to find some distressing news…she finds Harry’s dead body. After a small teary moment, she rushes up to the roof following blood drips. Claudia is there and is proven that she was responsible for his death. Heather is now pissed and wants to mutilate her. Claudia says she wanted to do it for the sake of the “paradise”. Heather does some more screaming at her, saying she will never understand Claudia’s logic for it. Claudia then tells Heather to go to Silent Hill. Claudia then summons the creature she ordered to kill Harry, which she defeated and went back downstairs to see Douglas. Heather starts to get emotional again and says that it was Douglas’ fault and for him to just get out of her damn life already. He agrees but then is shown in the next scene with Heather…guess they made up so he could help with Harry’s body (they never show this for some reason). Nobody is around to give him a burial so they lay him on his bed and cover his body with sheets…ew. Heather swears revenge on Claudia and says she will go to Silent Hill. Feeling guilty for what’s happened, Douglas offers a ride and a helping hand. Heather takes another minute while Douglas gets the car. When Heather heads out, Douglas says he just met Vincent. Heather takes interest. Vincent told him that when they get to Silent Hill and find a dude named Leonard. Not so sure they could trust Vincent, they leave. Douglas gives Heather a notebook, Harry’s. Harry wrote the book just for her so she could read one day and learn everything about her past, the whole dark truth. Everything from Silent Hill (or the meaty parts) is explained with some added things. Harry renamed the new Cheryl to Heather so he could hide her from the cult, as they consider Harry her “dirty evil kidnapper” basically. Harry even admitted to at times wanting to kill Heather, but was overcome by his fatherly love towards her. So he forever would cherish her instead. If Heather was obtained, she would surely be used as a sacrifice to bring out “God” since she still is Alessa (technically). “God” is still inside Heather. This was why she was sought out. We get a sad touching moment in the car ride about Heather’s past and love for her father. They reach a motel and split up to find Leonard, Heather was to search the hospital (big surprise). After some fights with demented nurses and sick love letters from a dude named Stanley, she gets a mysterious call from Leonard. Leonard is actually Claudia’s father and realizes that Claudia had went too far and offers some help. He asks her to meet with him deeper in the hospital and says he has a way to defeat her. She goes there and Leonard goes crazy after learning that Heather is not of the cult’s faith and accuses her of a traitor of sorts toward him. Leonard attacks…but he isn’t human. He’s a monster. Heather kills him and gets a talisman, the object that would help. We then get a scene of Claudia and Vincent in the motel. Claudia is pissed that Vincent led Heather to Leonard and killed him. At this point, we know that Vincent is of the same faith but still feels differently about things and that Claudia is nuts. Claudia was apparently abused as a child by her father and was alone, so now she wants the “paradise” that was supposed to happen by bringing out “God” so she (or they) could find happiness. I understand that but it’s still…coo-coo crazy. Vincent thinks she’s completely lost it. Heather returns to the motel to find Vincent there. He claims that Douglas gave him a message to go to the church to get to Claudia (wasn’t she here a minute ago?). Still not sure whether to trust him, Heather listens anyway and learns the best way to get to the church is through the amusement park. Fun times happen there and we get a scene with Douglas and Claudia. Douglas holds up his gun for tricking him and Claudia keeps her cool and speaks her loony “paradise’ speak again. We don’t see if he actually shot at her though. A little later, Heather finds Douglas injured (…how did that…) and shows concern. We then learn that lonely old Douglas had a son who died after trying to rob a bank to help Douglas’ poverty problems. Awww =(….Heather says she’ll take it from there and promises to return to him. Aw, she trusts him! But as soon as she was about to leave, Douglas holds the gun at her. He said that maybe if she died, the whole thing would be over. Heather says maybe. But Douglas doesn’t shoot as she leaves. Heather is then to fight the dark side of herself (or Dark Alessa I guess you could call it) in creepy descending carousel. Heather enters the church and speaks to Claudia there in the main hall. It is said that Claudia and Alessa were friends and that what Claudia was doing was happiness for the both of them. Alessa appears inside Heather(though her body) and says that this is not what she wants since it’s destructive. Heather comes out again and calls Claudia’s crazy out. She escapes. Some more revelation is seen as Heather travels in the church. Like where Alessa stayed and was tended to by Lisa. Memory lane was bitter for Heather as she is given remnants of her painful life as Alessa (being accused a witch, treated like a horrid soon to be sacrificed child, etc) and the sweet memory of her dead mother as Cheryl. She meets up with Vincent and believes she can kinda trust him and talks (“kinda” being key), though she isn’t pleased to have been doing Vincent’s dirty work all this time. Vincent makes sure Heather had the talisman since it was important to stop Claudia from bringing out “God”. A bit later, Claudia is met again as well as Vincent (who ironically is referred to as “Father Vincent” of their faith). Claudia renders and reveals the talisman to be useless and attacks Vincent by stabbing him, killing him after the second stab (Noooo, I liked Vincent D=). Claudia was about to bring “God” out of Heather until Heather opens her pendant locket. This pendant was given to her on her birthday by Daddy Harry, her precious treasure and she never takes it off. Inside was a stone. Using instincts and believing in her dad, she eats it. After an upset tummy experience, she pukes up a bloody fetus (ew). “God”. Heather is free. Not ready give up yet, Claudia eats the fetus (EWWWWWWWW). Now that “God” was in Claudia, she transforms into a monster and descends in the church. Heather follows and kills the God Claudia. If you played it right and got the good ending, Heather takes one last cry for her dad and leaves to go to Douglas. She tricks him (humor like) into thinking she had to kill him next. Douglas was not amused by her humor. Heather then says that she isn’t hiding anymore so she would use her real name from now on, “Cheryl”. It’s assumed they leave together…maybe Douglas watches her from now on? Heather makes one last crack when Douglas asked if she was going to let her hair color change back to black, her real hair color apparently. Heather says pretty much, “nah”. Finishing it off by saying that “blondes have more fun”. The freaking end!
At first, I wanted to have Heather pre-game but after some thought and some encouragement...it will be post-game. The reason why I thought she should be pre-game at first is because I didn't want Heather's father to be dead yet so she could be played on a more clean slate. Now I realize that wouldn't work. Heather needs to have the experience from what happened in Silent Hill 3 (everything from it right down to fighting monsters and killing "God") because she did kind of move on by the end of the game. But she will be taken just before she meets up with Douglas and she still hasn't quite come to the conclusion that she wants to be Cheryl again. So she still goes by Heather.

Well, this sure is interesting…this sure as hell beats Silent Hill. Yeah, that's for sure. Looks peaceful and monster free, just what I needed right now. And I DID want to sorta take a long break after all that…stuff. This isn’t what I had in mind, being on an island and all stranded. But you have to make do sometimes. Question is; how did I get here? Weird. Unless if I’m dreaming or something I guess I better find some answers so I can figure out what to do next. There’s a few huts here so there’s gotta be people hanging around....If worse comes to worse I guess I could either stay here and make some signals until some boat or something comes along or I could make some raft and wish the best of luck. God, I just have this mental image of Douglas. Poor old guy must be scared out of his wits right now, he's still in the park. Nah, I don’t think I have much to worry about. He’s a tough guy, I’m sure he’d be okay. Knowing him, I trust that he would go on with his life for what it’s worth even if I didn't come back. Probably thinks I'm dead...but he should be able to get out all right.
…Hey, is that an islander? Doesn’t look very primitive to me. Is he also stranded here? He sure looks like it. Huh, maybe I should go and ask so I could get a better idea of where I am at least so I’m not standing here COMPLETELY clueless.
